As a part time clarinet player I was wondering if sax has the same issue crossing the break, or does it use a different method to get to the next octave?
Not at all. Dealing with pads instead of open holes as well as a single octave key (as opposed to a register key plus thumb tone hole) and no throat tones makes it much easier. Add to fact, it’s a pure octave instead of a 12th which makes it easier to think about.
Thanks, that answered another question. Sax blows the octave instead of the clarinet’s 12th! Knew I should have got a sax
Have you gotten a saxophone yet?
No I don’t have a sax, and I’m very unlikely to ever get one. Was just curious
